CoSign debuts in Northside
CoSign is designed to enhance economic activity in Greater Cincinnati neighborhood business districts by pairing artists, small businesses, and professional sign fabricators to design and install unique handcrafted signage for local retailers; and in the process, create an infrastructure to train the next generation of local signmakers.
In its pilot phase, CoSign will coordinate the design and installation of a critical mass of new business signage in Cincinnati's Northside business district, an area experiencing significant redevelopment and reinvestment. The signage will be created by a unique partnership of a visual artist, a small business owner, and a professional sign fabricator, all coordinated through the leadership and expertise of the American Sign Museum.
Signs will be installed mid November and revealed to the public on November 23 (Black Friday) with a morning celebration to kick off the busiest shopping day of the year. The concentration of permanent new signage will communicate to residents and visitors that businesses are growing in the neighborhood. Local artists will learn new, profitable skills; businesses will benefit from increased visibility and the neighborhood will benefit from the improved streetscape identity.
